Waarom conservatieve Britten op UKIP stemmen
Wie is conservatief?
In een brief aan de Telegraph legt een voormalige-Tory lezer aan waarom hij zijn oude partij de rug heeft toegekeerd en tegenwoordig op UKIP stemt:
It is now a party of uncontrolled, mass immigration into Britain. It is anti-family, believing as it does, in penalising those who wish, by choice, to stay at home and bring up their children. It believes in borrowing money at excessive levels in order to fund a deliberately ballooning overseas aid budget. It no longer advocates the effective security and defence of the realm as it continues to undermine the effectiveness of our Armed Forces. And it seems perfectly happy to build over our beautiful countryside, where once it represented a philosophical position that conserved what is good.
En dat is niet alles, legt William Rogers uit: de Tories werken ook nog eens mee aan een corrupt en anti-democratisch Europa, en bestraffen spaarders en mensen die graag een leuke som geld willen achterlaten voor hun kinderen.
Het is ongelooflijk hoe zeer de oude Conservatieves zijn gaan lijken op de VVD. Die twee zijn echt precies hetzelfde tegenwoordig - en niet op een positieve manier.
