Opwarming? 'Nee, Mr President'
Monckton heeft het allemaal nog eens uitgerekend en stelt vast dat de meeste temperatuurreeksen afkoeling aangeven. Kanniewaarzijn?
Onlangs hield de commissie inzake milieu en publieke werken van de Amerikaanse Senaat weer eens een hoorzitting over het klimaat. Heel opvallend was dat geen van de aanwezige deskundigen ook niet de aanhangers van de menselijke broeikashypothese de recente bewering van president Obama bevestigde, dat de opwarming van de aarde sneller plaatsvond dan iedereen had verwacht.

Senator Barbara Boxer's Own Experts Contradict Obama On Global Warming
Expert witnesses called by Sen. Barbara Boxer to testify during Senate Environment and Public Works hearings yesterday contradicted a key assertion made by President Barack Obama on climate change. Speaking at a Democratic fundraiser less than a month before directing the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to impose costly new restrictions on carbon dioxide emissions, Obama said, we also know that the climate is warming faster than anybody anticipated five or 10 years ago. I dont have much patience for people who deny climate change, Obama added.
However, climate scientists including United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) lead author Hans von Storch report temperatures have remained essentially flat for the past 10 years, and indeed for the past 15 years. Storch told Der Spiegel that 98 percent of IPCC climate models cannot replicate the prolonged pause in global warming, and IPCC may need to revise its computer models to correct their apparent warming bias.
During yesterdays Environment and Public Works hearings, Sen. David Vitter asked a panel of experts, including experts selected by Boxer, Can any witnesses say they agree with Obamas statement that warming has accelerated during the past 10 years? For several seconds, nobody said a word. . After several seconds of deafening silence, global warming activist Heidi Cullen, who formerly served as a meteorologist for the Weather Channel, attempted to change the subject. Cullen said our focus should be on longer time periods rather than the 10-year period mentioned by Obama. When pressed, however, she contradicted Obamas central assertion and said warming has slowed, not accelerated.
Several minutes later, Sen. Jeff Sessions returned to the topic and sought additional clarity. Sessions recited Obamas quote claiming accelerating global warming during the past 10 years and asked, Do any of you support that quote?
Again, a prolonged and deafening silence ensued. Neither Cullen nor any of the other experts on the panel spoke a word, not even in an attempt to change the subject.
Boxer may have envisioned her high-profile global warming hearings as an opportunity to build momentum for congressional or EPA action to restrict carbon dioxide emissions. Instead, the very global warming activists she called to serve as expert witnesses delivered a crushing blow to President Obamas central justification for expensive new restrictions on carbon dioxide emissions.

Christopher Monckton heeft het allemaal nog eens uitgerekend en er mooie grafiekjes van gemaakt. Daarbij heeft hij verschillende temperatuurreeksen genomen en voor uiteenlopende perioden de lineaire trendlijnen van het temperatuurverloop uitgerekend. De meeste grafieken lieten een lichte daling zien. Op basis daarvan concludeerde Monckton:
When I spoke up at the U.N. climate conference in Doha and pointed out that there had been no global warming for 16 years the delegates were furious. So were the news media. One reason for their unreason: they simply did not know the facts.
The real-world trend shows global cooling since January 2005 at a rate equivalent to almost a quarter of a Celsius degree (half a Fahrenheit degree) per century. One would have thought that among all the hours of hand-wringing about global warming, most of the news media would be faithfully reporting the monthly temperature anomalies. But no. The facts do not fit the Party Line, so they are not reported. They are consigned to the Memory Hole.
As for Mr Obamas statement about acceleration, he was plain wrong. Instead of the warming equivalent to 2.33 C°/century that had been anticipated, there has really been no change in global temperature at all over the past five or ten years.

Obama bekleedt toch een uiterst verantwoordeljke en zware functie als leider van de vrije, democratische wereld. Als zo'n leider de bevolking sprookjes gaat vertellen, dan is dat een heel slecht teken.
