A former MI5 agent has infuriated colleagues after trying to sell a watch made exclusively for staff at the agency on auction website eBay. The agency commissioned Breitling to make 900 special editions of its Superocean Steelfish to mark its centenary in 2009. The models were offered to all 4,000 MI5 staff at a cost of £1,000 a piece. Unlike the ingenious watches of the James Bond films they have no secret features. However, they are distinguishable because they carry the agency's motto 'defend the realm'. The man worked as a surveillance officer for MI5 for 18 years before he was fired following a disagreement with his superiors.
